“We’re
Proud of Our Blue Seal Team”
Years ago, any shade-tree mechanic would do; after all, cars were simpler, less
complex. But with today’s high-tech vehicles, the meaning for error is less. Mistakes can be costlier. It makes good
financial sense to protect your auto investment through regular periodic maintenance and service performed by certified professionals.
Because ASE’s program is voluntary, technicians who have taken the time and expense to earn ASE certification
can be counted on to have a strong sense of pride in accomplishment, which should be good news for consumers as well.
ASE exams are administered by American College Testing (ACT). Designed by representatives from the automotive service and
repair industry, vocational educators, and ASE’s own in-house technical specialists, the test stress real world diagnostic
and repair problems, not theory. The exams are no cinch to pass; one out of three test takers fails.
Technicians
who pass at least one exam and fulfill the work experience requirement earn the title of ASE-certified Automotive Technician,
while those who pass all eight exams earn Master Auto Technician status. Technicians must recertify every five years in order
to keep current with changing technology and to remain ASE Certified.
Blue Seal of Excellence Recognized Business:
attained be relentless commitment to excellence by having 75% ASE-certified technicians and one person certified in each area
of service offered; A recognition program for establishments striving to be the best, and willing to prove their commitment
through annual renewal; a program designed to generate customer confidence due to high percentage of ASE-certified, professional
staff. It is a commitment that earns only the best establishments the recognition to stand out from the crowd.

“CHECK ENGINE” or “SERVICE ENGINE SOON” light on the dash:
It has come to our attention through automotive trade publications1 that some Honda vehicles are susceptible to internal
corrosion of the EVAP control canister vent shut valve. This corrosion is caused be salt-laden water in Snow Belt areas finding
its way into the internals of the canister vent shut valve. Honda has released an updated EVAP control canister vent shut
valve to address this problem. But, as far as we know Honda does not have a recall to address this problem. Sometimes, if
you wait until the “Service Engine Soon” light on your dash turns on it could be too late, because sometimes when
the old valve shorts out internally, it could zap the PCM (Powertrain Control Module or car computer) in the process. Then
you would need to replace the computer to solve the problem, which could be very expensive.
If you would like
to contact us for further information, please call (614) 262-1426, or to set an appointment to replace the original valve
with the updated one. That can save you all the diagnosis charge and the cost of potential car computer damage.
These
are the vehicles often prone to this problem: 1998-2000 Civics 1998-2001 CR-Vs 1998-2002 Accords 1999-2003
Odysseys 2000-02 Insights 2000-03 S2000s 2003 Pilots
